[citation][nom]drowned[/nom]For the price of that auction you could build the world's fastest desktop with dual cpu's and crossfire x 5970's[/citation]
yup just as much any other SERVERS and WORKSTATIONS, you could build your gaming DESKTOP yeh?
but who'd use a gaming desktop for a server/workstation? lol.
I am not that familiar with E-Bay but clicking the link here to the auction indicates the auction has ended (with a bid history of 0) and it appears there was no sale made.....perhaps someone got an angry phone call from AMD's legal dept.?
either that or someone bought them and the auction page is just not clear about it....

Or nobody wanted $7000.00 processors without a compatible motherboard.

They're not $7000 processors. You get four of them for that price.
Setting a high starting bid or reserve is a sure-fire way to have your auction end without any bids. The seller likely did that so the listing would show up as both an auction and a 'buy it now' item. Also the auction price is used over the 'buy it now' price for sorting. He/she probably intended to have someone buy it for the asking price rather than bid on it.

The company also has a listing for a TYAN VX50 server based on those chips. They say they're taking orders but waiting on TYAN to ship a compatible motherboard (S8812.)
