Where's the creativity, the unique design? Oh wait, may be they are doing this on purpose so they can try to sue anyone else who uses a colored font for their logo on the grounds of trademark infringement.

I don't know why any company would want to try and carve out their own little piece of the online shopping market at this point. It's completely saturated with competitors. Even today, eBay is still a strong player in the online auction arena where much money can be made by charging fees left, right and centre and ripping off your target audience.

I guess they're just opening the way for another person to fill the niche.

eBay has become counterfeit heavens these days, and the cost is so high most non-commercial sellers have moved on. Well done eBay.
