Ec1evo sensor question

So I opened up my zowie ec1 evo and I moved the light part that shoot redlight out. Does that mess with the tracking? Is that the sensor. It still works but my mouse feels differnt. Anyways I guess my question is that, if I move the part that shoots red light does that mess with the sensor and is the th ing that shoots the red light the sensor?

The light is a led that spreads light that the sensor detects. I'm not sure but theoretically speaking it should mess with the tracking because the light , if misplaced, will illuminate areas the sensor won't detect.
