ecache sys in vista corrupt, tried all the fixes in your blog, tried chkdsk, system recovery, cant roll back to previous time, none available, dont have another vista machine that i can copy from, most fixes ive found need windows to run to apply, the skip looks a good option at the moment. dont quite understand the xcopy mentioned but, dont have a good ecache.sys to use anyway. any ideas ?

Seeing that ecache.sys is a windows boot critical file, I believe you are only left with a Vista Reinstall. Even if you find the file on the DVD or other directory on the HDD (ecache.sy_) I don't think there is a way to expand it to the hdd.
