Is there a trick to getting USB2 working with this mboard (ECS 848P-A) on win2000/SP3? No downloads are available, and the supplied CD will not install the USB2 drivers - am I missing something? Littleberry

First load the Intel INF update, then reboot and load Intel's USB 2.0 driver.

Thanks, I was starting to wonder. When I right-click the inf file and select "install", then reboot, it keeps saying "windows was unable..." and I have to cancel the installation. I'll have to do the download and try again.
At least I was able to get sound under win2k, but for the life of me I don't know how - it was really flaky! If I can get the USB2 working, then this will be OK, even though I can't use win98se, which has been my favorite up to now.
Thanks for all the help. The temperature stays around 43C for the last few hours - I guess that zalman did the trick.

I downloaded SP4 overnight (132megs) and finally USB2 works with WIN2000. A lot of headaches, but, the system now looks like a keeper. I have to leave win98se behind (funny how we get so attached to old comfortable things). Littleberry

When I disconnect my usb2 h/d, the speakers hum (this board uses realtek 97 audio) and they won't stop until I plug a h/d back into the usb2 slot (either front or back). It is the same in XP as win2k - any ideas? Very irritating and perplexinb... littleberry
