Hello Everyone,

I have been daily driving edge without issues for the past two years and recently I have encountered an issue I cannot seem to solve. Edge has the default browser themes you can install onto the browser, typically it works. Recently however Edge overrides my theme with its daily default theme and it is kind of annoying. I keep changing my themes and turning off the daily theme, but it still shows the theme. It turns back on as if the settings are being reverted. I have no idea where to go from here. I have attached a video for clarity because explaining it all is kind of strange:

As far as I am aware, I cannot uninstall and reinstall edge now. So, I ruled out trying to get a clean install, so I "modified" edge and repaired it to no avail. I tried cache clearing, reinstalling themes, etc. It does this regardless of what theme I have installed.
Thank you in advance.

Happy New Year!

I've had a similar thing happen to me but it was with Windows Explorer whereby my settings wouldn't save for all folders in spite on hitting apply to that folder and it's subfolders and every other folder like it. I let it be until I needed to reinstall the OS(after recreating the installer with Windows Media Creation Tools) since I was having networking issues with speed anomalies and uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers in an elevated command wasn't helping. Turns out that there was a minor bug/glitch or corruption, what have you that caused the issue as the reinstall of the OS left me with a smile on my face for a long while, up until the time for an OS update came along.

My advice would be to try and perform maybe a system restore to a time before the issue cropped up(to your knowledge) or a reinstall of your OS after backing up your mission critical content.

Yes, I've been frustrated with this OS as I made the jump from 7 about 2 years ago. Wish I didn't need to get onto a new OS, if I had my way with it.

Sorry For the late response, You mentioned a corrupted file system so I decided to do an SFC /Scannow. Afterwards, I reset edge to default settings to get a "clean" process started. I guess that worked? There were corrupt files found in the scan so something file system related for sure. We'll see if my themes stay longer than a week lol!
