I'm getting into editing and pc gaming and I would like to have a pc that can do high quality gaming and video editing at the same time. You don't need to give example builds, I just need to know what to look for for me to be able to do this. My budget is under $2000.

Solution
Uhh, pretty sure that's impossible.
Editing is extremely hard on a system.
Playing games is also hard on system. (though can vary greatly, Minecraft and the Witcher 3 have vastly different processor loads)

You can build a really nice system for 2k, but "flawless" at the same time is a impossible.

You could build 2 $1000 systems though, one for editing and one for gaming, most popular YTs do that because sharing the load is pointless and the power you'd need to do that just gets less and less cost effective. (or more likely a $1200 gaming system and a $800 editing system)

Do you need anything else besides the computer tower included in that budget? Do you need to buy an OS?

You would need an x99 system with as expensive of a cpu with as many cores/threads as you could get your hands on, 32gb of ram and at least 1 if not 2 1080s.

At the end of the day James is right, 1 rig for editing and 1 rig for gaming would be cheaper and more effective.

and for video editing they're pointless because you don't need them for their intended purpose, accuracy.

If you designed bridges and buildings, the professional cards matter, if you don't, they don't, and you there's not reason to get a 10-core CPU if you're not gonna use all of it for video editing. (or half of it, but a 2.2ghz 5 core CPU is utter garbage for gaming)

Thank you guys for the great answers! Really helps knowing that two separate pcs would be better. Still unsure about what parts to get. Well, quite frankly I'm unsure of what parts even do or what "gtx" even means, but I'm sure youtube will solve that problem. Thanks again for taking time to answer

the reason i chose radeon pro or quadro is the current gtx 10 series or polaris aren't optimized for premier pro or after effects. moreover for a 10 bit color production or multi layer rendering i am sure u need more than 4 cores. the xenon i mentioned is a bad cpu for gaming but its ok for 1080p.[thats y i gave a choice of 6800k 😉]
P.S. i have games n a workstation and i can tell u, u wont get 50+ fps, but the graphics are much more clear and vivid than ur gtx!!! i played diablo 3, skyrim, fifa, gta 4. i know the difference cuz my friend has a 970 :na:
