What doesn't make sense in this article is the PSU. 425W for 41W top power consumption makes the PSU run very inefficiently. What is needed here is a 70W to 85W PSU like the ones used for notebooks.

What doesn't make sense either is the complete omission of video playback benchmarks. The Intel-only D510 platform would have been decimated there, thus giving easy win to the new ION2 platform including in the efficiency comparison.

[citation][nom]dEAne[/nom]I use this as a torrent rig. Always ON.[/citation]
Good use. :) I use one of my Atom's (230) as a Source Control Server (Subversion) and the other Atom (D510) as a Web Server, also always on. I've been running my one server since January and only turned it off once (due to a power failure). Both run 24-7 and barely make a dent in the electric bill. :) I will be buying another soon.

Thank, for review!

I totally agree that Asus 1215n shows all strengths of D525 + ION2 combo and this upper-class-netbook is amazing and very thought-over.

I suggest to explain how you estimate overall power eficiency, I didn't get it at start.

I would like to see a Celeron e3500 vs. athlon ii 240 on a Kwatt/hour performance base on finished tasks. Transcoding no-GPU-spoiled. Both are 65 watts. Both are entry level and almost same price and frequency. Changing only Motherboard and CPU.

Some other website also came to the same ion+atom conclusion as here.

Shocked that a mobile phone is about to get a quad core but there is nothing quad core atom from Intel as of yet. (Samsung A15)

Based on your previous benchmark results,
- 'Single core Atom' processors are only marginally better than the 'dual core Atom' processors.

- And the 'old dual core Atom' processors are only marginally better than the 'new dual core Atom' processors.

- So really, Pineview or not, the only thing that is 'kind of' moving forward is the ION chip which now consumes more power and completely forgets that this is a low power category.

To be honest, this is a joke. And after two years of waiting for Atom refresh, its not even funny. Intel really is trying hard to make sure that Atom remains an underpowered chip while collecting a couple of billions off of its sales anyway. My only hope is that AMD will get its act together and start releasing chips that actually work.

Intel 510MO (atom 510) can absolutely do 1080p video.. A better comparison for this review would have been the 510 vs. 525/ eg, the 510mo vs. 525mw. Not going apples for apples, a poor review.
