eGPU via USB Type C to Thunderbolt adapter?

I have an HP EliteDesk 800 G2 (i5-6500, 16GB Mem, 500GB SSD). Have just been using it for web browsing/netflix. Would be nice if I could connect an eGPU to it and do something more. There are no Thunderbolt connectors on it, but there's a USB Type C on the front of it. I notice Apple has these cables: https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MMEL2AM/A/thunderbolt-3-usb-c-to-thunderbolt-2-adapter

If I were to get one of those and combine it with a Thunderbolt 2 based eGPU(such as the Akitio Thunder 2), would that work? I'm doubtful a new 1000 series card would work to it's fullest potential, but figure something like a GTX 970 would go well in that thing.

Solution
It wouldn't work. eGPUs utilizes PCIe protocol (like any standard GPU). Only thunderbolt supports it (even though the pins are physically the same as USB-C). Even if you got that adapter the eGPU wouldn't be compatible.

I have several gaming desktops and laptops. This particular system is very compact(not much bigger then an Xbox controller) and doesn't take up any space. I have it attached to the back of the 4k tv in my bedroom(the only other thing connected to the tv is a Nintendo Switch). I didn't want to bring in any of the other systems as I was going for a clean look. At least I know now not to bother with this unit. Thank you

You can always stream from a Gaming pc to this pc, and let the gaming pc do the rendering with the GPU.
