I also sometimes see IDE refer to any and all devices that use the IDE protocol - including ATA 66/100/133, and SATA. When I see that, the site I see it on, usually some small reseller that carries server/workstation parts, is using it to distinguish ATA 66/100/133 and SATA hardware from SCSI hardware. They then use ATA or PATA to refer to parallel hardware (ATA 66/100/133) and SATA to refer to serial ATA. (but they classify everything except SCSI as 'IDE'.)
