EIDE & IDE

The EIDE is newer. The "E" stands for enhanced. I'm guessing it just supports higher transfer rates. Ex. ATA 100 v. ATA 133 or 166

Barton 2500+
Abit NF7-S v 2.0
Maxtor 60GB ATA 133 7200RPM
512MB Corsair Twinx 3200LL
9600 Pro
Enermax Noisetaker 420 watts
Win98SE

I also sometimes see IDE refer to any and all devices that use the IDE protocol - including ATA 66/100/133, and SATA. When I see that, the site I see it on, usually some small reseller that carries server/workstation parts, is using it to distinguish ATA 66/100/133 and SATA hardware from SCSI hardware. They then use ATA or PATA to refer to parallel hardware (ATA 66/100/133) and SATA to refer to serial ATA. (but they classify everything except SCSI as 'IDE'.)
