Hi I've read a bit about how the Elgatos work but I still have a couple of questions about the game capture hd and hd60:
Can you save the h.264 compressed video directly to disk to save decoding and re-encoding it?
How does this work for elgato software and obs? (I don't need it for streaming, only recording)
Answers appreciated.

Solution
Can you save the h.264 compressed video directly to disk to save decoding and re-encoding it?
If it is h264 it is already compressed so how would you save on de/re code?
But only the HD60pro has hardware encoding so what your question really is is if the hd60 can save raw or uncompressed video or has to save in h264.
I don't know if it can.

hmm... I think I worded that part incorrectly sorry: I'm interested to know if the hd60 can save the h.264 video it encodes/compresses straight to disk - so the pc doesn't have to do any encoding or decoding.
The hd60 S doesn't have this chip and sends raw video data to the pc so the pc has to encode it rather than the device itself. Just wondering if what I've said is correct or I have the wrong idea about it...
