Enable Freesync via HDMI cable

I have an LG 23MP68VQ monitor. It can boost up to 75hz but the only requirement is to enable the freesync on the monitor's OSD. The problem is since I'm currently using a VGA/DVI cable, the freesync option was disabled and can't be changed. My question is, will an HDMI connection would otherwise enable the freesync option? Right now I have an HDMI v1.3 cable and planning to buy a mini-HDMI adapter to connect with my gpu. Thanks for any help. I would really appreciate it.

You'd need an AMD/AMD add in board partner custom GPU to take advantage of freesync. While you won't be able to use freesync on your monitor with your NV card, it's still an excellent monitor fwiw (unable to find it for sale in NA yet). Though to take full advantage of your palit 980 you'd do better with a g-sync monitor.

But in re to your adapter question, can't see why not. Though it's worth mentioning that you should be able to do the same using a DVI-D cable.
As I understand it, freesync is supported via HDMI cable, 1.4a spec or newer, although seeing the article referenced above, I guess it's 1.2 or newer. Both LG's & AMD's websites state your monitor supports freesync. Using a gpu with a mini HDMI port, connected to your monitor via a mini HDMI to HDMI adapter, may allow for a signal, though whether you're able to use the listed freesync range on your monitor that way, if at all, is another matter.

Your freesync compatible AMD/AIB partner GPU should have an HDMI port, which could then be connected to your monitor using the minimum spec or newer HDMI cable.

Thanks for the reply sir. I have an NVIDIA card. I only wanted to enable the freesync so I could use the 75hz refresh rate boost of the monitor. My gpu only has an mHDMI that's why i'm asking if an adapter would do the trick. The mHDMI socket of my gpu can support up to 2.0 as stated from its spec sheet you can find below. So if I have to buy a 1.4 and above HDMI cable and connect it with an mHDMI adapter, would that be enough to enable the freesync option on the OSD?

I know that sir. I only intend to enable the freesync so that the monitor's refresh rate could boost up to 75hz as I stated above. It was already tested that the 75hz boost could work with an NVIDIA card, I'm just clarifying things whether the type of HDMI and adapter I have would be enough for it to work.

As I already stated above sir, I wouldn't mind not using the freesync feature of the monitor. On the other hand, I can at least use the 75hz boost feature of that particular monitor. The only requirement is, the freesync option on the monitor's OSD should be ON which is only possible if I have the compatible HDMI cable (which is actually my concern and needed help with).

EDIT: Just re-read the last part of your paragraph. I will also try the DVI-D if the HDMI wouldn't work. Thanks!
