Enable MoCA on Arris TG2472G

Who is your ISP?

Does the following User Guide match your gateway?

https://www.cogeco.ca/web/resources/pdf/support/user_guides/internet/touchstone_TG2472_Telephony_Gateway_User_Guide.pdf

Not seeing a configuration page per se in the guide I found....

Do you have admin rights?

That said, specifically what is your objective?

My thought is that you may not be able to do as you wish. E.g.

Can you sketch out the desired network connections?

ISP = Mediacom, I have the Arris TG2472G manual, but the ability to turn on MoCA via the standard login of admin/password is not allowed. I can see the MoCA check box, but cannot toggle the feature.

I currently have a MoCA dongle, but the gateway has built in MoCA and would like to get rid of the dongle.

I have called MediaCom, but they do not seem to know how to flip the MoCA check box either?

Not familiar with Mediacom. Is the Arris their's (you rent) or yours (you bought)?

Could be that that feature is not available via the firmware. Not unusual to have some features and functions disabled on ISP provided devices.

In fact, I sometimes think that all ISPs, modem manufacturer's, router manufacturer's etc. would be more than happy to disable everything from the end user just so the ISP or manufacturer could charge for configuration services. (Cynicism conceded.)

Not sure what else to suggest. Hopefully some other reader will be able to spot something I missed or provide a viable option. No problem with that on my end.

I bought the gateway to get out of the rental fee from MediaCom and was hoping to get away from the dongle because the TG2472 has integrated MoCA in the gateway. I was hoping someone knew a super password where I could enable the MoCA feature. I can see the MoCA feature in the firmware, but the basic login will not allow me to enable MoCA.

I have called MediaCom (ISP), but no luck in enabling the MoCA feature in the gateway.

No "super password" but a reset to factory default settings could help. You would have to redo your configuration however may be worth the effort if something went astray during initial set up.

Also:

Do you see any options to update the gateway's firmware?

If so, you can try that although firmware updates can be risky and brick a device. And, again, you would need to redo the configuration.

Thanks for the advice. I had tried the reset back to factory defaults by holding in reset button over 15 seconds and no firmware updates are available on Arris's website. The only info on the internet was the ISP had to turn MoCA inside the TG2472G gateway on and I have tried several times with MediaCom with no success. Thanks again.
