Enabling 5.1 Audio (DTS or Dolby) on a GIGABYTE GA-Z97N-WIFI ITX Motherboard

Guys, i havent been able to enable 5.1 audio in my motherboard.

I can't find any options on the realtek or windows configuration panels for this, and i dont get any 5.1 audio options inside games or movie players. I have a dts - dolby capable homethetaer and havent been able to figure how to send the signal in this formats.

I've been also all arround the web and it seems to be a very commonly unsolved problem!

Are there any tricks or something for this?

Any ideas would be seriously appreciated.

What kind of connection to you have from your PC to your home theater? HDMI? S/PDIF coax? S/PDIF optical? Something else?

Oh, and: Are the correct/current Realtek drivers/software loaded?

Good point, im using S/PDIF Optical, and i do have the current drivers installed.

Seriously?? No one has ever enabled 5.1 sound on their pcs??!!

Why is this such and obscure unanswered topic?!!
