Encoded or Compressed?

Hi all, am working on a project and slightly unsure of a question so want to make sure if anyone can help.

When you want to transfer video to a smartphone, what first must happen?

Decoded
Encoded
Uploaded
Compressed

I assume it's Encoded but Maybe it could be compressed?

Can anyone help clear this up? Many thanks

Sounds more like homework. I'll just tell you what each one is. Decoding can be just playback but decoding/encoding is also when you make or change the file. Uploading is the actual process of transferring the file. Compressing is making the file smaller.
