Entei in Colosseum

This is proving to be quite frustrating.

I haven't gotten past Dakim at Mt. Battle yet because I'm trying to Snag
his Entei. Every time I fight it, it breaks out of every kind of
PokeBall I throw at it and it manages to knock itself out. I trained a
team of Pokemon up to level 39, purifying my entire collection in the
process, but Entei refuses to switch sides.

Should I be able to capture Entei at this point, or am I stuck with
Magcargo as my Fire type?

I have indeed heard of someone who managed to Snag Entei first time, so it
can't be impossible.

But anyway, regardless of how hard it is, don't sacrifice a legendary
Pokémon that's only available in Coli - even temporariyl - in favour of a
piss-poor snail that's available in EVERY game. You'll be doing the whole
Pokémon world an injustice.

Kind of funny but I don't remember Entei as being too difficult. I did
paralyze him...or did maybe it was put him to sleep - can't remember. I
believe I ended up getting him with a timer ball. I had more trouble with
Mirror B and his critters than anyone else save the Mayor.

At any one time, I've had it either asleep, paralyzed, confused, or some
combination of the three, and I've tried all my PokeBalls except Nest
and Net. If Entei doesn't kill himself through Confusion or recoil,
then that stupid Camerupt does him in with Earthquake.

Blow away Hakim's other forces and then concentrate on Entei. I don't recall if
you can get Timer Balls at that point or not. However: Misdreaveus with Pain
Split. You can use that ability to heal Entei and then keep at it.

Pain Split - wow, never thought of that. I definitely had to get rid of all
of the others besides Entei to catch him, that I remember for sure. I'm
still thinking I used timer ball but not positive...wonder if I can see
that. He is well worth all effort though and is probably my favorite Poke in
the game - at least until I get Ho-oh which I plan to name 'Twinkie' if we
get to name him... I have 50 more battles to get through and I'm not sure
I'm gonna make it with the team I started with so I may have to rethink my
team and restart Mt Battle.
