ENVELOPES printing issues

My canon MP560 will not print on envelopes.

Why not? What's it doing, or not doing?

It feeds the envelope properly and it sounds as if it is printing, but there is no ink on the envelope.

inkjet or laser? It feeds all the way through?
Does it print on regular paper?
