I have owned a few different Epson cd printers. I had an R200, an Artisan 50, now I have an Artisan 730. I love the built in tray for cd printing in the 730. I was thinking on upgrading today since Staples has put the Expressions XP-820 on sale (Key features for upgrading: built in fax and two sided printing) but Epson went back to the external cd tray. I really wasn't impressed with the external trays in the past. Anyone using one of these new XP models? Is the external tray better than the older ones? I know with the older ones, the rollers would slip and screw up the cd print.

I support dozens of Expressions and they're fine but, just like the R-series, I anticipate those feeder-trays to wear out rollers eventually. But, at least the Expressions continue to use the "ink reservoir" concept.

I have been surprised at the durability of the Artisan feed mechanism. They feel so flimsy and I thought these would die, but we've had more of those in use, and even went out and snagged 'last batches' of the refurbs. But in the last two years, some folks have opted for the smaller Expressions.
