I've noticed that a lot of people in EQ2 seem to be in a sprint to get to
level 50. This I don't quite understand. With armor and weapons have their
own levels and lower in power as characters level past them, it doesn't make
much sense to zoom past so much content just to become level 50. This game
is designed well enough that there is plenty of interesting and challenging
things to do at all levels starting on the Isle of Refuge and progressing
upwards from there. To each his own I guess. I'm taking the slow, scenic
route with pauses along the way to kill the wildlife.

Well, a month or so ago I met a nice lvl 40 person. Had plenty of time
to show me a few things. I added them to my friends list and
subsequently noticed every time I logged on they were already logged on
and when I logged off they were still logged on. Probably explains why
they were that lvl when I had barely hit 20.

A few in our guild are approachin 40 (or recently hit it) but they
often group together, and are working their way through all the quests
that they come across - not much in the way of grinding, just lots of
questing and fighting.

That is one cool thing about EQ2, doing quests is a reasonable method of
advancement for both gear and xp.

I'd go one further and say that a person who relies on grinding xp to
advance will be at a disadvantage to people who are questing their way
through the game. Although the loot they find and sell with give them
cash, I don't see how it can measure up to the quest rewards you gain
as you move though the game.

Some encounters provide drops that can be sold for stupid amounts of
money. Some raid mobs drop between 12-15 items per kill. A few of
those kills, and get lucky enough to loot some rares from them and you
can probably afford to buy what you want that isn't NO-TRADE.

I've only recently started selling stuff myself, in my room, and I'm
surprised at hwat things sell for - especially collection items, and
Mastery quest body parts.

If I'd started selling from the start, I'd be a lot better equipped
than I am now...
