Question Error 55 code on Gigabyte z170x after thermal paste clean

Hi guys,

Recently performed a GPU and CPU thermal paste clean, nothing too dramatic there but then PC would start up and shut down, with a Code 55 error on the MB.

Having a look online 55 seems to be a memory error, which plays out with me as it seems fine with a single stick in but will give me a 55 when using two. Have tried both independantly and will boot fine, and have tried 1/2 3/4 with no double success.

Open to suggestions.

Reseat everything, including power cables. Did you make sure not to bend any CPU pins or dirty the socket in any way?

Have taken out the CMOS battery but that didnt seem to have any effect. I didnt lift the CPU at all, so not sure about bending the pins, dont much fancy taken it back off just yet as I actually have a working machine (all be it with half memory) until I have gone through all my other options!
