Hi,

I recently purchased a hard drive and to check its health I check the SMART attributes and it seems fine. Then I ran a SMART test and I got the following:

Code:
Error 2 occurred at disk power-on lifetime: 254 hours (10 days + 14 hours)
When the command that caused the error occurred, the device was in an unknown state.

After command completion occurred, registers were:
ER ST SC SN CL CH DH
  -- -- -- -- -- -- --
  04 51 00 00 00 00 00 Error: ABRT

Commands leading to the command that caused the error were:
CR FR SC SN CL CH DH DC Powered_Up_Time Command/Feature_Name
  -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- ---------------- --------------------
  00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ff 3d+11:37:12.627 NOP [Abort queued commands]
  b0 d4 00 82 4f c2 00 00 3d+11:36:11.653 SMART EXECUTE OFF-LINE IMMEDIATE
  b0 d0 01 00 4f c2 00 00 3d+11:36:11.651 SMART READ DATA
  ec 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 3d+11:36:11.641 IDENTIFY DEVICE
  ec 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 3d+11:36:11.640 IDENTIFY DEVICE

Since I didn't find information about the error "ABRT", I re-ran the test with the same error (actually the output of the second test is what you can read just above).

Anyone knows what is this? Is the disk in good shape?

Thanks

recently purchased a hard drive...
disk power-on lifetime: 254 hours (10 days + 14 hours)
purchased a used disk?

04 51 00 00 00 00 00 Error: ABRT
usually means that specific command was aborted;
failed specific test,
couldn't complete, etc...

Is the disk in good shape?
"good" shape, no.
or you wouldn't be experiencing any errors at all.

working shape, maybe.

if this was purchased second hand, i would return it.

Those power-on hours are "mine". I let the disk powered on some time, first time I checked it had 0 hours. I should have specified it, sorry.

usually means that specific command was aborted
this is what I found on when I searched the error, but is there a way to find the reason?

The disk is a supposedly new ST12000NM0127. Yet, the fabrication date is 2018.
The SMART attributes seem ok but probably they can be reset, and the error on the test isn't reassuring... I will probably return it.
Thanks :)
