Exactly what MB and CPU are we talking about?

Motherboard manufacturers normally have a list of supported CPUs for each motherboard, available on the web site. Tell us the models of the MB and CPU so we can check if the combination is supported and whether a BIOS update for it exists.

It sounds to me like your current bios does not support your new cpu.

Reinstall the old cpu.

Go to the motherboard web site and look for BIOS downloads. Make certain that the update applies to your motherboard revision version.
You can display your motherboard, version, and bios level by running cpu-z.
One of those updates should support your new cpu. If it does not support your new cpu, then you are stuck.
Update the bios with the latest bios and you should be able to reinstall your new cpu.

Read very carefully how to update the bios. A failed bios update can render your motherboard permanently useless.

My mother board is an IBM P5 2001, this is all is write on it and the processor is an Intel Pentium4 2.5 Ghz.

It is a NetVista Desktop, quite old and the version of bios is 4.0 or at least it says so when it tries to boot the processor and it gives the error.

Also I have tried to put back the old processor and start it to update the bios but now is not working anymore, the green light appears , the cooler spins but no image or power to mouse and keyboard.
