Error codes.for Acer motherboards.

So, my father brought an old PC home from his workplace. I basically wanted to try and get it working again, so I bought the two missing parts, being a hard drive, and two ram sticks. Now, before this, I just turned it on to see if the PSU was defective, and the error code I got was one long, continuous beep. Now, after inserting the RAM, I get an endless amount of short beeps...
The motherboard that was in the system, was the eg31m v 1.0, and the memory I bought was two sticks of 1 GB PC5300 DDR2 667MHz... Any help would be appriciated

Endless repeating beeps are a RAM problem. Try the RAM one piece at a time, and in various slots. If it doesn't work in any configuration, it's possible that proprietary RAM was required for that motherboard. Try the memory configurator on Crucial's website at http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/acer-memory?cm_re=top-nav-_-flyout-upgrade-_-us-upgrade-acer to see if the RAM they recommend is a special part number.

Thank You. Apparantly, I need PC2 ram :/ I honestly didn't think there was a difference, due to them both being DDR2
