Error connecting to Apple ID server

Why doesn’t my Mac book let me log into my ICloud or iMessages. And keeps telling me it has issues connecting to Apple ID server

First guess would be that it's not online so can't reach things. A bit more detail would help. When did this start, did anything happen before the issue started, can you logon to your accounts on other devices, does the computer reach every other web site normally?
