I have an external hard disk (WD my passport) and I always have a problem in Index I30. if I plugged my hard disk in it will work but can't be accessed so I have to run chkdsk /f, and then I see that there are problems in the Index I30. Some of my files were deleted because of that!! and if I run chkdsk /r, it'll reach 5% and will never continue.

is there a permanent solution to that?
I appreciate your help.

Hey there, maher640!

I'd suggest you to test your WD My Passport with our Data LifeGuard diagnostics tool.
Here's a link: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=C4g0ZA

Unfortunately, I think your external might be corrupted. 🙁
If it doesn't pass the tests in the DLG utility, I'd strongly recommend getting in touch with our tech support and ask if you can RMA your WD Passport.
Here are their contacts: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=wmxIZx

Hope I helped.
