how do i get rid of this please wait error message on my laptop. I have windows 8

When I turn the computer on it boots up and it says please wait. I cant get pass the please
wait screen. It has been like this for two days now. it appears as if it is trying to boot up but it never does anything

I had a similar problem, though ours may be unrelated. What model computer, what was running when this happened? The more details the easier it will be for any of us to help you...
