I have a Dell Dimension 4400 and it crashed recently. There was an error message:
- STOP: C0000221 (bad image check sum) error message
It stated the olecnv32.dll file was corrupted. When I tried to repair it with the Windows XP cd in the recovery console, another error message came up when it tried to reboot:
- STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0x00000000, 0xF79B6834, 0xF79B6534)
There were other messages that said I might have to make more space on my hard drive and something about Cache folder and BIOS upgrade. I've been searching the web to look for solutions but not having much luck.
I'm using an older version of Ubuntu image cd to get online on this computer so it's quite slow, especially when I'm online. Can't upgrade the BIOS since I'm using Ubuntu so I'm stuck.
Going to delete some files and give it another go but short of reinstalling Windows XP, is there anything else I can do? Any thoughts/advices?
