I use an ethernet connection to a laptop which has a better wireless network card for my internet connection.
What I need is for windows to stop randomly disconnecting me from the wifi network (network card in my PC this time), that I use for synergy. Otherwise everything works exactly how I want it to.
(I assume it is just windows doing this)

In your WiFi settings are you selecting the "connect automatically" check box option when you connect?
Also, have you checked your laptop model to make sure that it allows you to have both connections active simultaneously? Most laptop manufacturers disable WiFi on a laptop when it detects a wired connection, but in most, you can change this option to enable both at the same time from you laptop's bios.

This is what I am talking about, my desktop gets its primary internet connection from a laptop because it is faster than the 2,4G network card in the desktop. But I still need the 2.4 to use synergy with the other laptop that only has 2.4G. But at a random point, sometimes almost right away, other times after hours or days, the desktop disconnects from the 2.4 leaving me with only the cable to the 5G laptop.
What I need is for the desktop to stop disconnecting. (this doesnt happen without the wired connection)

The laptop simply has a network bridge between the wifi and ethernet and there are no problems there.
