Ethernet and wireless can't be used at the same time in my household.

I am currently having the problem that the wireless works but the hard ethernet cord doesn't. The network for the ethernet is labeled "unidentified network" and below that "no internet". The wireless though works completely fine. When troubleshooting the ethernet it said ""Ethernet" does not have a valid IP configuration". I was wondering if there was any solution to this.
