I have an HP Envy and I am finding the WiFi connection is not very stable for my Zoom meetings.
I purchased an ethernet cable cat8, plugged into the router and the laptop and cannot get it to connect.
I changed the wired properties to connect automatic.
Still nothing.

That is almost certainly a bad cable.

"Cat8" is a useless standard. Especially if it is a thin or flat cable.
Don't be fooled by the "8", thinking it is automatically better than Cat5e.

A quality Cat5e is all you need.
