now my hard wire conection its giving me 95mbps and it will nopt gop any more up .
had a tech come in today and told me that my pc lenovo model number h50-55 was not able to read any higher speed because it was cap maybe at 100mbps.

well i guess the question is if this any way possiblle i have a laptop also from lenovo idea pad p500 and i get the same speeed test thanks in advance

That devices does not have a wan port it is a modem/router. It is strange that it only has 2 ethernet ports but they are both gigabit. That modem can actually support full gigabit service from your ISP if they would offer it in your area.

Things like ps4 and xbox one have gigabit ports. Since the lenovo devices you have only have 100mbps the ISP and me may have gotten side tracked on the problem.

The more common cause of this problem is a bad ethernet cable. You need to try a new cable. Make sure it NOT CCA, must be pure copper and do not buy any thin or flat cable.

This will not make equipment that only has 100mbps port run faster but the equipment you have that has gigabit should run better.

I am really surprised...
It is surprising they only put 100mbps ports in those machines. In many cases the chipsets actually support 10/100/1000 but they somehow set them to only run 100mbps.

This is very rare on modern machines. I can not see why they do it the extra costs is likely only a couple pennies.

In any case there is little you can do. Both machines you list do only have 100mbps port. You might be able to use USB ethernet or on your desktop add a pcie card. It is so strange that some models have USB3 ports but only 10/100 ethernet.

I don't think that the issue is with my equipment and that they might have a 100mbs cap on them for the reason that I have also tested the internet speed on two of my consoles, a Xbox one and a Ps4.

they might have a 100mbs cap on them for the reason
If ISP imposes a cap on you, that will happen with everything. There is no way for the ISP to discriminate your one piece of equipment vs another, they can't see through your NAT router, nor frankly would they care.

bill has 16,000+ posts and if he says your devices are cap to 100 mbit, as rare as he admits them to be, I believe him.

I've noticed my brand new 4K TV has also a 100 mbit-only port, a bit surprised but TV are single-stream devices, doing one-thing-at-a-time, and a single stream 4K shouldn't need more than ~40mbit so I forgive them.

If your problem device is a PC, add your own Ethernet port as bill suggests, probably cheaper than returning even if still brand new.

I am really surprised that lenovo has so many models with 100mbps ports. They sell others with 10/100/1000 but it seems to be a upgrade you must buy.
