Hi,
Just bought a mobo, z490 edge wifi
The problem as title is that the ethernet card goes at 1Gb connection instead of 2.5Gb.
From windows, the ethernet card setting I ve tryed to set it at full duplex 2.5 but it return at 1Gb, so now it s in defoult mode(negotiable or something like that)
The mobo can go at 2.5Gb because I can see there s write on the drivers realtek 2.5GbE controller, also my connection is at 2.5Gbps and my modem support it.
The question is why it s set to work at 1Gb, is the modem connector? how can I check the speed of a modem connector?
All the other things are fine, everything support 2.5Gb, also the cable(cat5e)
No clue for what can be exept for the modem connector

Performance is dictated by the slowest device in the chain.
PC, modem, router, switch, cable.

Your modem/router likely only has gigabit ports.
Your Cat5e cable is also only gigabit.
my modem actually can run at 2.5Gb but I don t know if the ports are 1Gb or 2.5Gb, there is any way to check it?
Btw you are right! the cable can handle "only" 1Gb, I will try with my other cable(cat 8 or 7 idr) and then give update on the thing
