My PC will not connect through ethernet wire and I do not have a WIFI adapter. The connection isn't showing up in CMD either. I am running Windows 11 Pro.

What do you mean it isn't showing up in the CMD.

If you do IPCONFIG /all and it doesn't show ethernet check the devices manager and see if the ethernet is there. Could be a driver issue, microsoft is so "helpful?" and sometimes updates drivers.

If you can not find it in the device manager and this is not a brand new build you likely have a hardware failure. A add in pcie ethernet card is pretty cheap.

If this is a new build then make sure there is nothing disabling it in the bios and that you have the drivers for the chipset/motherboard loaded.

What is your motherboard (make and model)? Some motherboards require to manually install the ethernet controller driver. It's also very important to mention if it's a problem that just started recently or a new computer that never had ethernet working.

And how are you connected? You should write a diagram like this:

modem->cable->wifi router->cable->PC

If you go to settings->Network & Internet->Ethernet, you should see the details about your ethernet adapter. If you don't see anything there, then you likely have a problem with the ethernet adapter on your motherboard (or you need to install the driver). If you see the details (most likely a Realtek controller) then the problem could be as simple as a bad cable. You could also go to settings->system->troubleshoot->other troubleshooters->Network and Internet and click on "run". Windows should tell you why you cannot get connected.

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Make and model modem, router, or modem/router if combined?

For diagnostic purposes run "ipconfig /all" (without quotes) via the Command Prompt.

Post the full results.

You should be able to copy and paste the results here without needing to retype everything.
