I originally deleted this but as the gentleman stated it would be rude not to keep my problem up and share the solution
Problem: i just built my first ever gaming pc a few days ago and everything was working fine but today after a windows 10 update whenever i try to connect to the internet it hits me with the error "ethernet does not have a valid ip address " i tried restarting and deleting/reinstalling my ethernet drivers but alas to no avail, also the ethernet works fine with my laptop so the problem is definitely with the computer
Solution (for me at least)
Go to command prompt and type IPCONFIG/ALL and see if your computer knows to what the hell its trying to connect to (for me it showed there was no default gateway at all dhcp was off and the subnet mask was zeros) if yours was similar at all or missing somethings maybe dns as well you might have the same problem, to check i connected my laptop (the most crucial component) to the Ethernet and compared ipconfig/all results and to my surprise they were vastly different, next you either keep the command prompt open or take a picture of it while you connect your Ethernet back into the computer which cant access the internet, next step is the easiest to explain but the longest to do, go to network > edit adapter settings > (right click the name of ethernet your connecting to) > ipv4 protocol > properties, and then enter all the details from your laptops command prompt (ip address, subnet mask and default gateway) also go to advanced and add all the dns servers, save and your done!
Hope ive helped and sorry for the long explanation, took me ages to write as well >.<
