depending on which version of windows you have, you might need to go and select the new driver to be the default one.
some setup programs will install the driver but not select the new driver as the default.
the setting is in windows control panel, device manager, find the network device, right mouse click, select properties, find driver tab, select update driver, select browse my computer for the driver, select let me pick the driver from the ones installed on my computer. often you will get a list of microsoft versions and oem versions.
often they will not have dates or build numbers on them so it is hard to figure out which one to use.
I generally use the pnputil.exe utility to remove the old versions and just leave the two most current ones.
you should run cmd.exe or powershell.exe as an admin and run
ipconfig.exe /release
ipconfig.exe /renew
ipconfig.exe /all
and see if things start to work.
