Ethernet Keeps Disconnecting

Hey, so my LAN connection keeps disconnecting (red x and even sometimes the limited triangle) and first it happened like all the time, but now it only happens when I play games and I'm just getting sick and tired of it. My network adapter is a realtek pcie gbe family controller, and my lan cable is plugged into my Comcast provided monitor. I've only used wireless before a couple of months ago, but even then it didn't do this. Getting really pissed off because I've tried everything. Updating the adapter drivers, deleting the adapter driver, turning off high power use, and more.

Help?

It is very likely to be a cable issue. Often the head of the cable is not crimped properly and you lose connection randomly.
You should be able to test this by taking the router/switch near your PC, and plug the network cable in, then move the cable around a bit (at the router end and at the PC end) and see if you lose connection on the router as the light goes on and off.
Sometimes one can stabilise the connection if the cable is pulling downwards or upwards (with a bit of support from a cable tie or something) but ideally it should be replaced.

If that didn't work, can you try another network cable?

If that doesn't help, try another port on the router/switch and also can try using another device like a laptop and seeing if that fixes the problem. In that case it is your network card, but I would first start with the cable and router.
Hope this helps.

Hi! I tried moving the cable around a bit and it didn't disconnect. I also forgot to add that when it changes to limited connection (or when I loose connection) and if I try diagnosing the problem, it often tells me that "One or two network protocols are missing". I know there is a way to install protocols, which I have done also and I still have the same issue. I would try using another cable, but the issue is is that I have a 250ft cable going from my pc in my office to my modem in my basement. I usually would suppose that this is a hardware issue, but since windows often diagnoses it as something, I'm assuming it's a software issue. Thanks.

do you have access to a laptop you can borrow for some hours? If yes, then try to connect it instead of your pc with the lan and see what happens. Also you can connect the pc and the laptop with the same cable and see what happens.
Most likely it's your cable though. Did this happen all of the sudden or was working always like that?

The first few weeks I had lan, it was fine. Then it randomly started doing it a ton when I was just browsing the internet, now it only does it when I play games. Whenever I diagnose it it either gives me "One or two protocols missing from this computer" or "default gateway not available". Supposedly I already fixed the one or two protocols missing from this computer deal, and ever since I did that, it just straight disconnects (red x) and reconnects. I don't have a laptop I can try it on though. Unfortunately I only have two skinny macs (without ethernet port, i know, shitty) so I can't try that out.
