This has been happening ever since I bought a new laptop. On my old laptop, ethernet works just fine but not on this one. (Although Wifi works)

It says "limited".

Solution
Did it come with documentation? If yes install the software it requires you to. It may have came with a CD, or a web link to download the drivers from.

If not, windows should auto install it once its connected into the PC USB slot, and an Ethernet cable gets connected from your router or modem, to that Ethernet port

Otherwise update all of the drivers through device manager
Connect your Ethernet cable from your modem or router to the back of your pc
Open command prompt (cmd)
Type in
Ipconfig /release
Ipconfig /renew
Ipconfig /flushdns

Also try locating your network adapter in device manager, right click it and update the drivers through the internet

Thanks for trying to help, but it didn't do it. I'm guessing I might just give this up. Actually I have a "USB to Ethernet port" converter but I don't know what driver it requires. Would like to know.
