Question Ethernet not connecting to 5ghz

I have a Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller and a NETGEAR EX3700 extender. My extender allows 5ghz bands and when I connect it to my pc, my pc automatically connects to the 2.4ghz band but I want to connect to the 5ghz band

The Realtek sounds like a wired connection. What does that have to do with WIFI?

5Ghz WIFI depends on lots of things. The signal may be too poor to allow a stable connection from your primary WIFI source.
What is your primary router ? How far away is it from the EX3700 ? Does your phone get a good 5Ghz signal ?
Is the SSID for 5Ghz different from 2.4Ghz ?
