I just installed a new copy of windows 10 onto my new computer and i am unable to connect to the internet via the Ethernet cable. I haven't downloaded any drivers for the Ethernet but if i go to the MSI website and get the drivers for LAN and try to install them it tells me that i don't have a network adapter? i was under the impression that i wouldn't need a network adapter if i only wanted to use Ethernet and not WiFi. Im just hoping for a solution that doesn't involve me buying a network adapter

i5 6600k
212 EVO
MSI b150 M3 gaming
Geil EVO potenza 8gb (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2400 Memory
Crucial MX300 525GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
EVGA 600B 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply
MSI GeForce GTX 1060 3GB 3GB GAMING X 3G Video Card

Yes, you should do it as a driver upgrade once you unpack the zip file on your machine.

The router LAN port is easy to test, just attach your other computer to it. At this point we will assume that the Killer LAN port is functional, assuming that it is turned on in the bios.
Insure that your network adapter is enabled in the bios, and yes your board does have an Ethernet adapter (my least favorite the Killer since it generates so many problem threads, but they can usually be solved so don't despair).

I would go into the device manager and attempt to update the driver and use the manual selection to pick the latest Killer driver from HERE. There are also Killer management utilities, but you shouldn't really need those, although they are also available for download.

Insure that your Ethernet cable and LAN port on the switch or router are functional by testing with another machine.

ok so i just have to install that file into my new comp? i know the cable is working cause im using it rn on my socond computer but i dunno hwo to test the port
