i got me a dongle to put on my tablet to see if i could get faster speed for viewing my cameras. so today it arrived and i tested it on the phone. i did an xfinity speed test with the phone using wifi and data turned off. i got 13 mbps then i turned off the wifi and connected the dongle to the phone and a cat5 cable that is connected to the same network switch as my pc and the speed dropped to 4 mbps. so why would the phone run slower on ethernet than wifi? thanks for any ideas.

It's a terrible idea to use ethernet cable to get internet on a phone or tablet.

They're portable devices and are meant to be used wirelessly.

I'd advise to use the same cable on your desktop and see what speed you get.

Use the same app to test the speed on both devices. [Speed test dot net]

If you're getting the same speeds on the PC, there's nothing to worry.

If you have a capable device and it's near the router, it may get almost identical speeds but never more than a wired connection.

Either that adapter is faulty or you misunderstood Mb/s for MB/s.

13 Mbps = 1.625 MBps
