I have problem with my ethernet port. light not blinking. windows is showing network cable unplugged.
I have gigabyte 78lmts2 motherboard. AMD fx 6300 12gb RAM 1tb+160gb+80gb HDD 800w psu. was running in Windows 7, had problem tried with Ubuntu 14.04, then uninstalled win 7 and installed win XP. problem still persisted, took the motherboard to service center they tested and showed me everything is working, took MB home assembled it and it still does not work.
Ethernet port light does not blink. tried with remove of BIOS batt. uninstalling the driver re installing it. tested the connection by connecting it to a friend laptop, it works. no problem in the wire. any help would be appreciated. sorry for bad english

It is turned on in BIOS? If so and still not working you have to reset CMOS properly. NIC might be stuck off.

-Unplug power, LAN, monitor
-Remove motherboard battery and locate CMOS jumper pins. Two pins stick up from motherboard. probably on right side of motherboard or near battery.
-Short circuit pins with screwdriver 5 seconds.
-Put battery back in.

LAN should be working.

That's alright. My opinion is the NIC is dead then. Sorry.

Only thing left I can think is your case is shorting LAN connection. So take out motherboard put on table and see if LAN connection works. Also, remove all USB connections and see if LAN works.

What is NIC.
I will try it and let u know

Thanks. NIC= Network interface card. The part inside the motherboard that does LAN work.

Keep in mind an easy fix is to just buy a cheap NIC card. Sometimes you can find them used for like 5$ american haha..they fit in PCI slot.

But still...keep trying to fix onboard LAN.

A new thing started happening. The orange light started blinking during the setup menu and during logo screen but as the dextop showed(XP). No light is blinking now.

Updated to latest driver but no still no connection

That's unfortunate. The only think I can think of is a driver issue, maybe check device manager to be sure the adapter is there? Try repairing the internet connection? Maybe adapter is not enabled.

Checked device manager, network adapter is present and enabled. No successful result
