Ethernet Splitter Help

Well I was wanting to build a pc

but I dont want to have wireless, since I am building it in the basement. So my dad put a extender from the office to the basement, and ran a Ethernet cord downstairs to connect them together, but there was a catch, there was only one Ethernet port, and the extender was running from the modem to the extender, so there is no port to run a CAT 5 Ethernet cord from my pc to my extender. Should I get a one input/ one output Ethernet splitter (and where do i buy it) or buy a 5 gb Wireless card. Or can i buy a regular Ethernet splitter. I need help please!

Plug the long Ethernet cable into the uplink port and plug the extender and the PC into the switch. Either that or just connect the Ethernet cable directly to the PC and don't use the extender (unless you need it for a wifi signal for a phone or something downstairs).
