Ethernet - 'unidentified network' and '"Ethernet" doesn't have valid IP configuration'

Hi.

My Wi-Fi is working fine however I'm using a BT Broadband Extender Flex which stopped working a few days ago.

I've tried a few ways to get them to work again but they still don't work.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Open the Start Menu, type in cmd and run it as admin. Type in the following commands:
1) ipconfig /release
2) ipconfig /release6
3) ipconfig /flushdns
4) ipconfig /renew
5) ipconfig /renew6

This will take care of any problems within Windows, but does nothing to solve hardware issues within your network infrastructure. It's worth a shot, but I don't think it will solve your problem.

last time i had this issue was with my virgin media box. turned out the wired part of the box died and needed to be replaced. (wireless part still worked)

call your isp. they will reset your router and if theres an error they will order you a replacement.
as your with bt you may have to pay a fee for it though...

Had this exact issue yesterday. I had to unplug the power to the extenders and plug them back in before it worked again.

Oh no, I installed it. A previous update broke it and this one fixed it.

I just installed the update but it's still not working - must just be a coincidence

Does it work if you manually assign an IP address?
Are you able to plug the PC directly into the router to test if that works? The extenders might have failed...

Oh. Well it didn't work right away for me either. I tried it last night and didn't work. But I went to bed and turned on PC this afternoon and it worked 😀 So maybe try restarting networking devices and stuff. Idk >_<

Maybe try in CMD as admin :

Type netsh winsock reset catalog then press Enter.
Type netsh int ip reset reset.log hit then press Enter.
Type ipconfig /release then press Enter.
Type ipconfig /renew then press Enter.

Then reboot PC.
