Hello! (sorry for bad grammar)
I need help on deciding to get an ether net cable or not.
So I bought this pc a week ago. and It's Internet connection is REALLY bad.
Which is right here- http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-desktop-computers/new-inspiron-gaming-desktop/spd/inspiron-5680-gaming-desktop/ddcwblsk103h

So I bought it and........ Everything else is okay except the wifi connection. I don't know whats wrong, because I'm guessing it's the wireless card. Cause it disconnects when I try to download steam or go into a voice channel on discord. It disconnects me from wifi for a split second and comes back on. I'm pretty sure it's the card cause when i look at my router which is a couple of feet away from me. It's still online. So I'm like WTF IS DIS HMMM? MY OLD PC WHICH IS NOT EVEN A GAMING PC DOWNLOADS GAMES AND CONNECTS TO DISCORD VC'S WAY BETTER THAN THIS. So I'm considering buying an Ethernet cable. So if I plug in an ethernet cable to my pc It only depends on my router right? unlike Wifi it depends on the wireless adapter AND router. That's what I'm confused on, because I think if I buy an ethernet cable All my problems will be solved and my download mbps will come back to at least 30 like my old pc. Unlike this 0.5 - 1 mbps trash rn. What do you guys think?

I know this isn't the answer y'all were looking for, but my dad's friend came over (the guy that gave me this xfinity modem for free a while back) and checked on my PC and modem. He said something is wrong with the wifi so we'll have to get a router. (Which is what I did) AND BAM! Download speed went from 0.92 MBPS TO 49.97. Which is pretty good for my use. And the best thing is I'm getting an Ethernet cable! now my speeds might even double! who knows!
If you connect a cable, the computer will not deactivate anything, it just uses the connection provided. If you want to ensure it's using the wired connection, you can go into the Device Manager and disable the wireless adapter.

Have you tried updating the wireless cards driver?

You didn't mention whether you are connecting directly to a ISP modem/router or not, and that makes a major difference. My experience has been that ISP routers are crap. Getting a separate router is always advisable. If you have cable and no longer using their wireless router, make sure you aren't paying for it. If I were to use my ISP router, they would charge me $5 a month for the privilege of using their crap router.

Glad it worked out.
