I bought this PC a long time ago, around 2012 (still in basically perfect working condition!). I recently decided to try to hook up an ethernet connection for smoother internet since my wireless signal can sometimes be a little unsteady. Unfortunately, the connection does not work.

Things I see:
Ethernet Killer Network says the ethernet cable is not plugged in

Fixes I've already tried (but none work):
Uninstalled and Reinstalled all the ethernet drivers
Tried the repair function for the connection (ethernet is not connected)
Used multiple ethernet cords and ports on my router
Disconnected wireless to force ethernet connection

I have basically never used the ethernet port since buying the laptop so i find it hard to believe the port itself could be broken. I have also never used the ethernet ports on my router and it is basically new. Does anyone know of anything else I can try? Is there another ethernet driver that I need to download or check?

Network Adapter = Killer E2200 Gigabit Ethernet Controller (updates say it is up to date)

Buy a USB to Ethernet adapter. Mine works really well. You can purchase one for USB 2.0 or USB 3.0, but the latter is much faster. Make sure the one you buy has good reviews and is from a reputable manufacturer; there is a lot of junk out there.

But if I were to do that, wouldn't I still have the same problem? The issue is the computer is not recognizing an Ethernet cord. Whether it goes through a USB or the ethernet port, I would think the issue must be somewhere in the software.
