Recently built a pc, connected an ethernet cord, not receiving a connection despite green light on router and theres a orange and blinking yellow light on the motherboards ethernet port where the cord is
The blinking lights indicate that there is a connection only so your cable is good.
Have you installed the network drivers?
If it an onboard port, have you installed the drivers from your motherboard cd?
Search for device manager and see if you have the ethernet driver for your motherboard.
If your drivers are installed and working, open a cmd prompt and type "ipconfig" to see if you get an IP.
If you have an IP, try to issue the "ping" command in the cmd prompt to your routers IP. You can find your routers IP with the ipconfig command, it is called "Default gateway".
