Well that really depends on how well you solder things so that applies to anything electronic. Typically its just a bunch of cylindrical battery cells wired together packaged inside a plastic case. My soldering skills aren't up to snuff so I wouldn't fool with it, but I've looked around and you could pay $100+ for a replacement battery pack or spend as little as $25-$30 and rehab the old battery and end up with a battery that performs as well or better than the original when it was in its prime.
 
The 6990M is available superiority, but the processor isn't. Things will just get harder in real life because they've bypassed machine language for no reason at all.
 
This laptop with a lot weaker CPU (and less ram, worse storage) costs me way more than 2100€ (2 686.74 according to google).
 
I would love to see a laptop with a desktop GPU in it, bonus if it was a 6990. Build a chassis large enough for it, stick in the GPU with the desktop-style heatsink and fan.

The only issue is that the laptop would have to be fairly thick, and very loud as the cooling fan is much closer to the user than if the GPU was in a desktop chassis. Especially for the 6990.
