Meh, not much change. 960M is 860M at slightly higher clocks, other than that the 230SS had the same specs, 4940MX could be configured back in 2013 with the 230ST or any other PGA947 laptops, the problem is cooling, which really makes its $1000 price pointless. Just saw first benchmarks of the i7-6700K today, looks like I'll upgrade my laptop with skylake in a few months.

I like that it can support the 4940MX Haswell CPU because the newest MSI, Alienware and Asus laptops only support soldered CPUs,even the new MSI GT80. Hopefully the cooling is great and not too much work to swap/replace the battery. I hope the battery packs juicy amounts of power as well.

Most people never replace their processor in their machine unless it futzes out. The motherboard is also much more likely to go before the processor by far.

It would be a nice upgrade once the machine gets older and the 4940MX or 4930MX becomes inexpensive. That's true most people wouldn't replace their CPU, especially in a laptop but it's great for a person who likes to work on their computer like a car.
