Hi Guys

Yesterday after Exiting a game Resident Evil 2 Remake from steam my PC froze then my monitor suddenly lost its display but my PC is still On.
so i Restarted my PC and thankfully it's back to normal but im wondering what caused my PC to Freeze all of a sudden.

So i checked the Event viewer > Windows Logs > System and i saw this error > volmgr
https://prnt.sc/rzisv7
Dump file creation failed due to error during dump creation.

then i clicked on Details tab
https://prnt.sc/rzitrv
on the event data it says
\Devic\HarddiskVolume4
000000000100000000000000A10004C081000200010000C000000000000000000000000000000000

so im not really sure what this means. i went to other forums and they said it maybe attributed to some OS file corruption so the only step i made was
1. run SFC /Scannow - for some reason it did not encounter any issues on the systems files

Note: after i encountered this issue yesterday i tried recreating the issue again the running the game from steam plays a couple of hours then exited.
haven't encountered it again.... yet.

so im just wondering what really caused that issue to occur and what the volmgr error meant?

thanks!

Well, the message under the 1st one about windows not shutting down right, should have been on all 3 lines. As its what the other 2 mean as well. Event 141 (63) is the result of a report windows runs at startup. If it finds PC wasn't shut down right, it creates that report. It can happen after BSOD as they often cause an unexpected restart.

odd it shows 2 shutdowns at the same time, maybe PC was getting ready to restart just as you did, could explain why no dumps.

Were there anymore of note before that as its just reporting it can't create a dump file for some reason. One reason for that could be you have altered the size of the page file. There are other reasons.

volmgr = volume manager - used for managing storage devices like hdd. its the driver reporting the error

have a look in reliability history, it might have an error recorded there.

As for the page file it is System Managed i didn't set anything on it.
I checked the reliability history here are the errors i found on the time the Crash occurred
  1. https://prnt.sc/s08lzh
  2. https://prnt.sc/s08mq4
  3. https://prnt.sc/s08mzw
but im not sure how interpret them
